This I Believe
I believe adopting animals from a shelter is the right way to go versus buying from a puppy mill. There are so many dogs and cats that need a good home that are in shelters. Some of the reasons you should adopt are simple. One main reason is adopting will save you money. Adoption fees are minimal and the initial vet services are already taken care of. When adopting a pet from a shelter it will always be healthy. They are vet checked with a clean bill of health waiting for their forever home. Most of all when adopting you save a life. You also gain a new friend, or family member who needed you and you needed them. |

Since I was born my family and I have had two adopted dogs and have now rescued a third. My first adopted dog, Shelby, was the most loving dog. We adopted her from our local humane society. We thought we were going to bring her home and take care of her, however she took care of us. She grew up along side my brother and I, as she watched over us. We enjoyed her so much my parents decided to adopt another dog. We adopted Susie from a family member who couldn't keep her anymore. She was a little princess, but you could always count on her to cuddle up and watch TV with. Eventually my family lost both of our babies, devastated, sad, and lonely, we knew we couldn't live without another.
So my mom got online and we visited our local shelters, and we found our new girl Ivy. Ivy is my crazy fun loving, chocolate lab mix, puppy who is as happy to be with us as we are to have her.
My family has had so much luck when rescuing animals from a shelter, This is why I believe in adopting not shopping. Next time you are looking for a new addition to the family check your local animal shelter.
